3rd. Any Contractor, having been called upon, and failing to appear, personally or by proxy, in order to take up his Tender and pay the required deposit, shall be precluded from the performance of any Works for the Provincial Government for a period not less than six months thereafter.

4th. Contractors will be required within 5 days from the acceptance of their Tenders, to furnish two (2) sureties, or to lodge an additional sum of ten (10) per cent., and enter into a Bond for the due fulfillment of the Contract, the sureties to be bound to the amount of five (5) per cent. on the Contract sum.

5th. The Tender of any Contractor having been accepted, and the requisite deposit having been made as a guarantee for his good faith, the said deposit shall be absolutely forfeited, if at the end of the five days before mentioned the Contractor with two (2) sureties shall have failed to execute a Contract and Bond in accordance with the terms above specified.

6th. Monthly payments on Contracts will be made at the rate of eighty (80) per cent. on the value of the work done, and in case of non-fulfillment of the Contract, the Government will retain—

1st. The cash deposit.

2nd. The twenty (20) per cent. on the value of the work executed.

3rd. Their remedy against the Contractor and his sureties under the before-mentioned Bond.

7th. Tenderers will be required, in all cases, to state the time necessary to complete the work tendered for.

SOUTHERN STEAM COASTAL SERVICE, PROVINCE OF OTAGO.

TENDERS will be received at the Provincial Secretary’s Office, Dunedin, until noon of Tuesday, 12th January, 1864, from parties willing to run a Steamer between Dunedin and Molyneux Township, and Waikawa Harbor, till 31st December, 1864.

Tenders must describe the Steamer offered for the service, particularly her sleeping accommodation for Cabin and Steerage Passengers.

The days and hours of sailing, and all details will, from time to time, be subject to the approval of the Provincial Government.

Weather permitting, two trips per week must be made to the Molyneux, and a monthly trip to the Waikawa.

Rates to and from the Molyneux not to exceed the following:—

Coal, 20s. per ton.

Goods, 30s., to be taken from ship’s tackle at Molyneux.

Wool, 12s. 6d. per bale, to be brought alongside.

Grain, 6d. per bushel, do.

Passage—Saloon, 50s., Steerage, 30s.

Rates to and from Waikawa not to exceed the following:—

Goods, 40s. per ton, to be taken from ship’s tackle at Waikawa.

Wool, 15s. per bale, to be brought alongside.

Timber, 40s. per ton, do.

Passage—Saloon, 60s., Steerage, 40s.

Meals to be provided for Passengers by the Steamer free of charge.

A Steamer from 100 to 150 tons, horse-power 60 to 100, draft of water 5 feet, would suit the trade.

The Government will not be in any way bound to accept the lowest or any of the tenders.

Registration of Dogs.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Police Stations within the several Police Districts, and at the Towns and Places hereinafter mentioned, have been appointed by His Honor the Superintendent as places at which Dogs may be registered, in accordance with the provisions of the “Dog Nuisance Ordinance, 1862.”
