situate on the said Dunstan Gold Field, containing forty-one (41) acres, more or less, in the Interior District of the Province of Otago, at the junction of the Kawarau River with the River Clutha, with roads, sections, and reserves, as pegged off, and shown on the Record Map of the said Town of Cromwell; bounded towards the North, by Crown Lands; towards the East, by the Clutha River; towards the South, by the Kawarau River; and towards the West, by Crown Lands.

TOWN OF FRANKTON,

situate in the Wakatipu Gold Field, containing one hundred and thirty-one (131) acres, more or less, in the Interior District of the Province of Otago, North of the junction of the Kawarau River with the Wakatipu Lake, with roads, sections, and reserves, as pegged off, and shown on the Record Map of the said Town of Frankton; bounded towards the North, by Crown Lands; towards the East, by Crown Lands; towards the South and West, by the Kawarau River and the Wakatipu Lake.

QUEENSTOWN,

situate in the said Wakatipu Gold Field, containing forty-eight (48) acres, more or less, in the Interior District of the Province of Otago, at the junction of Horn Creek with the Wakatipu Lake, with roads, sections, and reserves, as pegged off, and shown on the Record Map of the said Town; bounded towards the North, by Crown Lands; towards the East, by Crown Lands; towards the South, by the Wakatipu Lake; and towards the West, by Crown Lands.

TOWN OF KINGSTON,

situate in the said Wakatipu Gold Field, containing sixty-eight (68) acres, more or less, in the Interior District of the Province of Otago, at the South end of the Wakatipu Lake, with roads, sections, and reserves, as pegged off, and shown on the Record Map of the said Town; bounded towards the South-east, by Crown Lands; towards the South-west, by Crown Lands; towards the North-west, by Crown Lands; and towards the North-east, by the Wakatipu Lake.

And by virtue and in exercise of the power vested in me in that behalf, I do Proclaim and Declare all the said lands included within the said Towns to be exempt from occupation under any Miner’s Right or Business License.

Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, this twenty-fourth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.

PROCLAMATION.

CANCELLATION of License to depasture Stock on certain Waste Lands of the Crown.

By the Honourable JOHN HYDE HARRIS,
Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled the “Gold Fields Act, 1862,” it is enacted that where any Gold-mine or Gold-field shall be discovered and proclaimed upon any Crown Lands held under License or Lease for depasturing purposes, it shall be lawful for the Governor at his discretion to cancel the License or Lease under which such land shall have been held in occupation, as regards the whole or any part of the lands so held under such License or Lease;

And whereas by the said Act it is provided that it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council, under his Hand and the Public Seal of the Colony, from time to time, to delegate to the Superintendent of any Province, all or any of the powers vested in the Governor or the Governor in Council by the said Act, except the powers conferred by sections XIX, XXXI, XXXII, XXXIII, and LXI thereof, subject or not to any limitations as he may think fit; And whereas by warrant under the Hand of His Excellency Sir George Grey, Knight Commander of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand, dated at the Government House, at Auckland, on the fifteenth day of September, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and issued under the Public Seal of the said Colony, His Excellency, by and with the advice and consent of his Executive Council, and in exercise of the power and authority for that purpose in him vested, did delegate absolutely and without restriction unto me, John Hyde Harris, as Superintendent of the Province of Otago, all the powers vested by the “Gold Fields Act, 1862,” in him and in him and his Council, except the powers contained in sections XIX, XXXI, XXXII,
