PROCLAMATION
Of a Gaol at the Mount Ida Gold Field.
By the Honorable JOHN HYDE HARRIS,
Superintendent of the Province of Otago:
WHEREAS it is expedient to proclaim part of the new Lock-up or Watch-house, at the Mount Ida Gold Field, to be a Public Gaol:
Now, therefore I, JOHN HYDE HARRIS, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in pursuance of the power in me vested in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the cell, enclosure, or compartment numbered 1, in the new Lock-up or Watch-house at the Mount Ida Gold Field, in the said Province, shall henceforth be a Public Gaol.
Given under my hand at Dunedin, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, this eighteenth day of September, (L.S.) one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.

MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT
Made the first day of August one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, between the Honorable John Hyde Harris, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, of the one part, and the above named Alexander Sinclair Murray and Peleg Whitford Jackson of the other part.
WHEREAS the said John Hyde Harris succeeded to the office of Superintendent aforesaid on the thirteenth day of April last; And whereas the said Alexander Sinclair Murray and Peleg Whitford Jackson, being unable to place on the Clutha River the steamer within described, and to commence to ply with the same on or before the seventh day of March last, in terms of the within written agreement, have applied to the said Superintendent to have the time for so placing and plying with the said steamer on the said river extended to the day of the date of these presents, which the said Superintendent hath accordingly agreed to do.
Now these presents witness, that in pursuance of the said agreement in this behalf, and in consideration of the sum of ten shillings paid
