From one hour after sunset till sunrise
the above fares and freight and one-half
more shall be charged.
Further, I hereby give notice, that the
Mail, and persons exhibiting a certificate
under the hand of the Superintendent,
that they are on duty under the employ of
the Government, are exempt from the
payment of the said fares and freights.

PROCLAMATION
Portobello and Anderson’s Bay Road Districts altered, and North-east Harbour District formed.
By His Honor John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS by an Ordinance passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, intituled, the “Roads’ Ordinance Amendment Ordinance, 1862,” it is, among other things, enacted, Section 12, that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the General Road Board, from time to time, by Proclamation in the Government Gazette, to alter, vary, diminish, or enlarge the boundaries of any or all of such Districts, and to increase the number of Districts by forming and naming new Districts, or by dividing any District into two or more Districts:
And whereas it is necessary to alter the boundaries of the Districts numbered 4 and 5 in the Schedule to the said Ordinance, called the Portobello and the Anderson’s Bay Districts, so as to admit of the formation of a new District, named and bounded as after-mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, the said Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the General Road Board, do hereby proclaim and declare that the boundaries of the said Portobello District, and of the said Anderson’s Bay District, shall henceforth be as hereinafter set forth; and that there shall be a new District to be named the “North-east Harbour District,” and to be bounded as after-mentioned:
Portobello District.
This District comprises all that area bounded on the north by the Harbour; on the east by the Maori Reserve; on the south by the Ocean; and on the west by the North-east Harbour District.
Anderson’s Bay District
Comprises all that area bounded on the north by the Harbour; on the east by the western boundary lines of Blocks I., II., III., and VIII., Anderson’s Bay District, and that line continued from Section 22, Block I., to the Ocean; on the south by the Ocean; and on the west by the Dunedin Town Belt, and that road running direct from near Hillside to the Ocean Beach.
North-east Harbour District
Comprises all that area bounded on the north by a line drawn between Sections Nos. 12 and 13, Block VII., Portobello Bay District, thence through the Sugar Loaf Hill or Harbor Cone, and onwards to the line dividing Sections 5 and 6, Block III., Portobello Bay District, and thence by Hooper’s Inlet and the Ocean; on the west by Anderson’s Bay District.
Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this twenty-fourth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.

Exempting from Mining Operations the Township of Lawrence, Tuapeka.
