EXTERMINATION OF THISTLE.

THIS AGREEMENT made and entered into the eighteenth day of November one thousand eight hundred and sixty-two BETWEEN ALEXANDER BEGG and CHARLES DIEHL, both of Dunedin in the Province of Otago New Zealand Contractors of the one part and JOHN LARKINS CHEESE RICHARDSON Superintendent of the said Province of the other part:

Whereas the said Alexander Begg and Charles Diehl have agreed to destroy and exterminate the plants called the Thistle in that part of the Districts of Otepopo and Oamaru in the said Province delineated on a map of the same and colored red which map is signed by the parties as relative hereto for the considerations aftermentioned:

Now THIS AGREEMENT WITNESSETH that in pursuance of the said Agreement and in consideration of the sum of eight hundred and twenty-five pounds to be paid as hereinafter expressed and contained the said Alexander Begg and Charles Diehl

for themselves their heirs executors and administrators do hereby covenant and agree to and with the said John Larkins Cheese Richardson Superintendent as aforesaid and his successors in office that they the said Alexander Begg and Charles Diehl shall and will proceed at once with a sufficient number of men divided into two or more parties each party to commence where the Thistles are most forward in order to get them eradicated and destroyed before blooming and to cut eradicate and destroy every Thistle visible above the surface of the ground in the districts aforesaid and that they the said Alexander Begg and Charles Diehl their executors or administrators shall keep a proper look out over the said districts and eradicate and destroy all Thistles that may have come up or escaped notice upon any part of the ground delineated on the said map as aforesaid for a period of two years from the date hereof and shall and will enter into a Bond with two sureties for the due fulfillment of this Agreement: And the
