LIST OF EDUCATIONAL DISTRICTS IN THE PROVINCE OF OTAGO,

Established previously to the passing of the Education Ordinance, 1862, with a description of the boundaries thereof respectively:—

1. North Dunedin district
   comprises all that portion of the city of Dunedin, and the Town Belt adjacent thereto, which lies north and north-east of St. Andrew’s-street, Victoria-street, section 19, Block XIX, and a straight line continued from the line dividing sections 19 and 20, Block XIX, to the outer limits of the Town Belt.

2. South Dunedin district
   comprises all the remaining portion of the city of Dunedin, and of the Town Belt adjacent thereto.

3. Port Chalmers district
   comprises the town of Port Chalmers, and all that area which is bounded on the north by the watershed of the range extending from Mihiwaka to Point Heyward; on the east and south by the Harbour; and on the west by Pelichet Bay, thence by the watershed of the ranges extending over Signal Hill and Mount Cargill to Mihiwaka.

4. North East Harbour district
   comprises all that area which is bounded on the north by the Harbour; on the east by the Maori reserve; on the south by the ocean; and on the west by the Tomahawk survey district, the line dividing sections 44 and 45, East Harbour survey district, and thence by the same line produced to meet section 41, Block III, Tomahawk district.

5. Anderson’s Bay district
   comprises all that area which is bounded on the north by the Harbour; on the east by the North East Harbour district; on the south by the ocean; and on the west by South Dunedin district, and that road running direct from near Hillside to the ocean beach.

6. North East Valley district
   comprises all that area which is bounded on the north by the watershed of the range extending from Station S, Swampy Hill, to Mount Cargill; on the east by Port Chalmers district; on the south by north Dunedin district and on the west by the Water of Leith to its source, thence to Station S, Swampy Hill.

7. Wakari district
   comprises all that area included in Wakari survey district; Upper Kaikorai survey district; sections 80 to 90 inclusive, Town survey district; sections 1 to 17 inclusive, Lower Kaikorai district; Archibald Anderson’s grant; Robert Chapman’s grant; Block V, Dunedin and East Taieri district; sections 5 to 13 inclusive Block IV, Dunedin and East Taieri district; and sections 3, 11, 19, 13, 26, 27, 28, 29, 36, 37, 49; and applications 1177, 784, 869, 1234, 1294, 1887, 718, 1921, and 1316, of Block VI, Dunedin and East Taieri district.

8. Caversham district
   comprises all that area which is bounded on the north by Wakari and South Dunedin districts; on the east by Anderson’s Bay district; on the south by the ocean; and on the west by the western boundaries of sections 37, 38, 39, 49, 68, 87, Ocean Beach survey district, thence by a straight line to the south-west corner of section 37, Lower Kaikorai survey district, and by the western boundaries of sections 37 and 47, Lower Kaikorai district; and includes sections 45 to 48 inclusive, Block VI, Dunedin and East Taieri district.

9. Green Island district
   comprises all that area which is bounded on the north by that road line which forms the northern boundary of parts of applications 599, and 565, W. H. Reynold’s grant, and sections 30 to 35 inclusive, Block VI, Dunedin and East Taieri district; on the east by Wakari and Caversham districts; on the south by the ocean; and on the west by Kaikorai river, from its mouth to the corner of the section forming part of application 520, and 1547, thence by the road line forming the western boundary of said section, and sections 8 and 13, Green Island West survey district.

10. East Taieri district
    comprises all that area which is bounded on the north by the road line forming the northern boundary of Blocks V, VI, VII, and VIII, extending from the Taieri river to the north-east corner of section 4, Block V; on the east by a straight line halving Blocks I and V, from the aforesaid road line to section 14, Block VII, Dunedin and East Taieri district, thence by the eastern boundaries of sections 14, 11, and 10, same block, thence by Green Island district; on the south by the Main Trunk Road to the corner of section 36, Block VII, Dunedin and East Taieri district, thence by the district road line which passes along the front of Saddlehill and Scrogg’s Hill, to Block II, Otokia district; and on the west by Block II, Otokia district, the township of Greytown, and the Taieri river.
