PROCLAMATION,

By His Honor John Larkins Cheese RICHARDSON, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, New Zealand.

WHEREAS, on the twelfth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-one, the following Bill, passed by the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, intituled

The Provincial Council Ordinance, 1861,

was presented to the Superintendent of the Province of Otago for the signification of the Governor's pleasure thereon:

Now, therefore, I, the said Superintendent, do by this Proclamation signify and proclaim that the said Bill has been laid before the Governor of New Zealand, and that His Excellency has been pleased to assent to the same.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this twenty-third day of January, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-two.

HIS HONOR THE SUPERINTENDENT directs it to be notified that

Edward Bowes Cargill, Esquire, was this day duly elected a Member of the Provincial Council, vice William Purdie, Esquire, M.D., resigned.
