TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL
COME, GREETING:
WHEREAS by "The Regulation of
Elections Act, 1858," it is enacted
that it shall be lawful for the Governor by
Warrant under his hand from time to time
to appoint Polling Places for each Elec-
toral District within or without the limits
thereof, and to appoint any one of such
Places to be the Principal Polling Place
for the District, and all or any of such
Polling Places at any time to abolish, and
to appoint other Polling Places in lieu
thereof :
And whereas by Warrant under the hand
of the Governor, bearing date the first day
of June, one thousand eight hundred and
fifty-nine, Mr. Beale's House of Accom-
modation, Hawkesbury Bush, and the pre-
mises of H. C. Hertslett, Esquire, Oamaru,
were appointed Polling Places for the Nor-
thern District for the election of the Super-
intendent and of Members of the Provin-
cial Council of the Province of Otago :
And whereas it is expedient to abolish
the same :
Now know ye, that I, THOMAS GORE
BROWNE, the Governor of the said Colony,
in pursuance of the power and authority
in me vested by the said Act, do hereby
abolish the above-named Polling Places
for the Northern District for the election
of the Superintendent and of Members of
the Provincial Council of the Province of
Otago, and appoint in lieu thereofβMr.
James Mitchell's Store at Waikouaiti, and
the Provincial Government Store at Oa-
maru.

Warrant applying "Militia Act Amendment
Act" to Militia enrolled at the time of the
passing of that Act.
By His Excellency Colonel THOMAS
GORE BROWNE, Companion of the
Most Honourable Order of the
Bath, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, &c. &c. &c.
WHEREAS it is enacted by "The Militia
Act Amendment Act, 1860," that
nothing therein contained shall apply to any
Battalion or Company of Militia then enrolled
under "The Militia Act, 1858," until the
Governor shall by warrant under his hand
have declared the same to be applicable, and
such warrant shall have been published in a
Newspaper circulating in the Militia District
to which such Company belongs.
Now, I, the Governor, in pursuance of the
recited provision, do hereby declare that the
said "Militia Act Amendment Act, 1860,"
shall apply to the several Companies or Bat-
talions of Militia throughout the Colony en-
rolled under the "Militia Act, 1858," at the
time of the passing of "The Militia Act
Amendment Act, 1860."
