TOWN BOARD OF PORT CHALMERS.

ELECTION OF FOUR MEMBERS.

IN pursuance of the powers vested in me in that behalf, I, the Acting Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby appoint the Electors entitled to vote for the Member for the Town of Port Chalmers in the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, to assemble, on SATURDAY, the 27th day of April 1861, at one o'clock afternoon, at the School-house, Port Chalmers, for the purpose of electing Four Persons in the room of

THOMAS TAYLER,
FREDERICK BASIRE,
JOHN MAXWELL,
COLIN ALLAN,

Whose retirement from office has been decided by lot : And further, I hereby appoint JOHN GILLIES, Esquire, Returning Officer, Dunedin, to preside at the said Meeting ; and in the event of a Poll being demanded, I hereby appoint the Polling to take place at said School-house, on MONDAY, the 29th day of April 1861.

to be Gaoler of the Gaol at Port Chalmers, Without Salary.

PROCLAMATION.

By his Honor JOHN LARKINS CHEESE RICHARDSON, Esquire, Acting-Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS power is vested in the Superintendent of the Province of Otago to declare any House, Building, Enclosure, or Place to be a Public Gaol :

NOW THEREFORE, I, the Acting-Superintendent, of the Province of Otago, by virtue of the powers vested in me, do hereby Proclaim and Declare that the addition joined on to the Lock-up at Port Chalmers and just now erected, shall be a Public Gaol of the Colony of New Zealand, until proper provision is made otherwise in that behalf.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, this ninth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-one.
