GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!

A PROCLAMATION

Appointing Districts under the "Registra-

By His Excellency THOMAS GORE
BROWNE, Companion of the
Most Honourable Order of the
Bath, Governor and Comman-
der-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zea-
land and its Dependencies and
Vice-Admiral of the same, &c.
&c., &c.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General
Assembly, intituled the "Registra-
tion Act, 1858," it is enacted that it shall
be lawful for the Governor from time to
time, by Proclamation in the New Zealand
Gazette
, to divide the Colony, for the pur-
poses of the said Act, into such and so
many districts as he shall think fit, and
every such district shall be called by a dis-
tinct name, and shall be a Registrar's dis-
trict: Provided always that the Governor
may at any time revoke the whole or any
part of such Proclamation and issue a new
Proclamation dividing the Colony or any
portion of it anew into districts, or in-
creasing the number or altering the bound-
aries of districts, as from time to time he
may think requisite:

And whereas by a Proclamation duly
made, issued, and published, bearing date
the sixth day of July, one thousand eight
hundred and fifty-nine, I, the Governor,
in pursuance of the power and authority

vested in me by the said in part recited
Act, did divide the said Colony, for the
purposes of the said Act, into districts, the
names and boundaries whereof are respec-
tively set forth in the said Proclamation,
comprising amongst others the Dunedin
district, the Waitangi district, the Taieri
district, and the Invercargill district:

And whereas it is expedient for the pur-
poses of the said Act to divide anew that
portion of the said Colony comprised with-
in the four districts hereinbefore named:

Now therefore I, the Governor, in pursuance
and further exercise of the power and au-
thority vested in me by the said in part
recited Act, do hereby revoke the said
Proclamation so far as concerns the said
four before mentioned districts, and I do
by this Proclamation divide that portion
of the said Colony which is comprised
therein into nine districts, the names and
boundaries whereof shall be as follows.

[NOTE.—The Districts under the "Registra-
