PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor WILLIAM CARGILL,
Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS by an Ordinance passed by the Lieutenant-Governor of the Province of New Munster, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, Session I., No. 9, intituled, "An Ordinance to increase the efficiency of the Constabulary Force;" after provision made for the introduction of the Ordinance into the Town of Wellington, it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Lieutenant-Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, by proclamation, "to specify any further or other limits of Towns within which any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be enforced, upon a requisition to that effect from a majority of the Magistrates of the District in which such Town is situated."
And WHEREAS in virtue of a certain other Ordinance, enacted by the Superintendent of the said Province, with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council thereof, intituled the "Empowering Ordinance, 1854," all such powers as are by the before recited Constabulary Force Ordinance vested in the Lieutenant-Governor of New Munster are within the limits of the Province of Otago conferred on the Superintendent thereof:
And whereas a requisition has been made by the majority of the Magistrates of the District wherein the Town of Invercargill is situated, that the first-mentioned Ordinance shall be enforced within the said Town;
Now, THEREFORE I, the Superintendent of the Province of Otago aforesaid, in pursuance of the authority by the said recited Ordinances in me vested, do hereby Proclaim and Declare that the limits of the Town of Invercargill, in the Province of Otago, shall be such as are described and delineated in the Provincial Government's authorised plans of the said Town: And that the provisions of the aforesaid Ordinance to increase the efficiency of the Constabulary Force shall from and after the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and sixty, be enforced within the said Town of Invercargill, limited as aforesaid.
