ELECTION OF ONE PERSON A MEMBER
OF THE TOWN BOARD.

In pursuance of the “Dunedin Town Board Ordinance,” I, the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby appoint the Electors entitled to vote for Members of the Town of Dunedin, in the Provincial Council of Otago, to assemble upon Wednesday, the 16th day of February 1859, at 12 o’clock noon, within the Hall of the Mechanics’ Institution, Princes Street, Dunedin, for the purpose of Electing One Person to be a Member of the said Town Board, in room of Mr. Alexander Rennie, who has resigned his seat as a member of said Board.

And further, in pursuance of said Ordinance, I hereby appoint John Gillies, Esquire, of Dunedin, R.M., to preside at said Meeting; and in the event of a Poll being demanded, I hereby appoint the Polling to take place in the said Hall of the Mechanics’ Institution, on Thursday, the 17th day of the said month of February 1859.

With reference to the previous notice of this date from this Office, publishing the names of persons to whom Depasturing Licences have been issued within the several Hundreds of Dunedin, East Taieri, West Taieri, Waihola, North Tokomairiro, South Tokomairiro, East Clutha, and West Clutha, for the year 1859, I hereby call Meetings to be held in conformity with the provisions of the Waste Land Regulations for the Province of Otago (1st April 1856), at the places and times specified below, of such holders of Depasturing Licences, for the purpose of electing from amongst themselves Five Wardens for the Hundred of Dunedin, Five Wardens for the Hundred of East Taieri, and Three Wardens for each of the Hundreds of West Taieri, Waihola, North Tokomairiro, South Tokomairiro, East Clutha, and West Clutha respectively, who shall have the regulation and appointment for the current year of the right of pasturage upon the Waste Lands of the Crown, within the said Hundreds, and also be entrusted with the other powers specified in the said Regulations.
