LAND DEPARTMENT.
MR. Chief Commissioner W. H. CUTTEN has leave of absence from his Office for one month on account of a serious attack in his eyes.
Mr. Robert Short, of the Land Office, is appointed Acting Chief Commissioner of the Waste Land Board during the absence of Mr. Cutten.

HIS HONOR THE SUPERINTENDENT directs it to be notified that
Mr. THOMAS TAYLER, Merchant, Port Chalmers,
was this day, in terms of an Ordinance of the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, duly elected as a Member of the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, for the Port Chalmers District, in room of Mr. William Henning Mansford, resigned.

WASTE LAND BOARD.
SOME change in the Membership of the Waste Land Board being called for, and especially in order that it should have the professional knowledge and experience of the Heads of Departments in the matters appealed to it, the following gentlemen are hereby appointed to be, from and after the date hereof, the Commissioners, and to constitute together with the Chief Commissioner (or the Acting Chief Commissioner, pro tem.) the Waste Land Board of this Province:—

NOTICE.
I, JOHN GILLIES, Resident Magistrate of the Province of Otago, hereby certify that Mr. HENRY NELSON has this day, in terms of an Ordinance of the Province of New Munster, dated 18th May 1849, and entitled,
“An Ordinance to define the Qualifications, and to provide for the remuneration, in certain cases, of Medical Practitioners,” submitted to me the proof of his qualification as a Medical Practitioner, and I find that, upon the 30th day of July 1850, he was admitted a Doctor of Medicine by the University of Edinburgh, and that he was admitted a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, on the 6th day of August 1850.
Given under my hand at Dunedin, in the Province of Otago, this 1st day of October 1858.
