PROCLAMATION

By His Honor William Cargill, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, intituled the “Roads’ Ordinance, 1856,” it is among other things enacted, Section 2, that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the General Board of Road Trustees, from time to time, by proclamation in the Government Gazette, to alter, vary, diminish, or enlarge, the boundaries of any or all of the Districts named in the Schedule to the said Ordinance, and to increase the number of Districts by forming and naming new Districts. And whereas it is necessary to form a new District, named and bounded as after-mentioned: Now, therefore, I, the said Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the General Board of Road Trustees, do hereby proclaim and declare that there shall be a new District, to be named “Invercargill District,” and to be bounded as follows:

Invercargill District.

This District comprises the tract of country bounded as follows:—On the North by the Hokanui Hills; East by the Mataura River; South by the Ocean; and West by the New River and the Oreti River.

NOTICE

FOOTPATHS having been well and sufficiently made and completed for the accommodation of foot passengers along the front of the following Sections, in the Town of Dunedin, fronting Rattray and Maclaggan Streets respectively, viz.—Sections Nos. 36, 37, 38, 39, Block IX., and Sections Nos. 66, 67, and 68, Block VII., Rattray Street, and Sections Nos. 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, and 32, Block IX., and the other portion of said Section No. 68, Block VII., Maclaggan Street, I, the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in pursuance of the “Footpath Ordinance,” passed in the year 1847, do hereby declare the same to be Public Footpaths within the meaning of the said Ordinance.

Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at Government House, Dunedin, this Twenty-third day of September, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty-seven.
