PROCLAMATION

By His Honor William Cargill,
Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, intituled the “Roads’ Ordinance, 1856,” it is among other things enacted, Section 2, that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the General Board of Road Trustees, from time to time, by proclamation in the Government Gazette, to alter, vary, diminish, or enlarge, the boundaries of any or all of the Districts named in the Schedule to the said Ordinance, and to increase the number of Districts by forming and naming new Districts.

And whereas it is necessary to alter the boundary of the District No. 1 of the said Schedule, called “North-East Valley District,” and to form a new District, named and bounded as aftermentioned:

Now, THEREFORE, I, the said Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the General Board of Road Trustees, do hereby proclaim and declare that the boundary of the said

North-East Valley District shall henceforth be as hereinafter set forth; and that there shall be a new District, to be named “Port Chalmers District,” and to be bounded as after-mentioned:—

NORTH-EAST VALLEY DISTRICT.

This District comprises the tract of country within the following boundaries—commencing at the North-east corner of Suburban Section No. 94, Wakari District; thence in a direct line running North-east to the Trigonometrical Station on Mount Cargill; thence by the Water Shed of the hills to the North-east corner of Section No. 86, North-East Valley District; thence by the Water Shed of the hills to the North-east corner of the Town Belt, Dunedin; thence by the Town Belt and boundary line of Suburban Sections, Upper Kaikorai District, to the point first mentioned.

PORT CHALMERS DISTRICT.

This District comprises the tract of country within the following boundaries—commencing at the Trigonometrical Station on Mount Cargill; thence by a direct line to the Trigonometrical Station, Mihi-waka; thence by a direct
