Superintendent’s Office, Dunedin, 20th March, 1856.

WHEREAS by the Land Regulations for the Province of Otago, proclaimed and issued by His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, it is provided that there shall be established a Board of Commissioners to be called the Waste Land Board, which shall consist of a Chief Commissioner, and of at least two other Commissioners, all of whom shall be appointed and removable by the Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council: Now I, the Superintendent of the said Province, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, have appointed—

PETER PROUDFOOT, Esq., Commissioner of Crown Lands, to be Chief Commissioner of the Waste Land Board, and

WILLIAM HUNTER REYNOLDS, Esq., and

JOHN M’GLASHAN, Esq.,

to be two other Commissioners of said Board.

HIS HONOR THE SUPERINTENDENT directs the re-publication of the following Notification from the "New Zealand Government Gazette":—

Colonial Secretary’s Office, Auckland, 11th February 1856.

His Excellency the GOVERNOR has been pleased to appoint the Commissioner of Crown Lands for the Province of Otago, to be TREASURER of the Waste Lands’ Board on behalf of the General Government, under the Land Regulations to come into operation in the Province of Otago on the 1st April next.

HIS HONOR THE SUPERINTENDENT has been pleased to direct it to be notified that the under-mentioned Gentlemen have been this day duly elected Members of "The Board of Commissioners for the Management of the Public Lands in Dunedin," under Ordinance Session I., No. 5, of the Provincial Council:—

Messrs. WM. PURDIE, M.D., Dunedin.
JOHN ANDERSON, Forbury.
JOHN HILL, Dunedin.
JAMES PATERSON, Do.
JOHN DUNCAN, Do.

PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT.

NOTICE is hereby Given, that it will be necessary for those parties who have lodged applications with the Provincial Surveyor under the temporary arrangements of the Provincial Government for unsurveyed or other Lands, and whose applications have not been granted, to lodge applications of new with the Waste Land Board of the Province on or after the first day of April next, in order to admit of the whole matter coming regularly before the said Board.

As some delay will unavoidably occur in the publication of the Land Regulations in the Provincial Government Gazette, all parties interested are hereby informed that the General Government Gazette of 12th February 1856, containing the same, may be perused in the Land Office, Dunedin.

The said Land Regulations contain the following clause, being Section 11:—

"In the event of two or more persons having made application for the same land on the same day, such land, if the Board shall decide that it should be sold, shall be put up for Sale by Auction at an upset price of 10s. per acre, the said applicants alone being allowed to bid for the same."

NOTICE.

AS the New Land Regulations come into operation on the 1st proximo, it will be necessary for those parties who have lodged applications at this office for the purchase of lands within the Otago Province, and whose purchase remains incompleted on that day, to renew their applications, and they are hereby called upon to do so, to the Waste Land Board in such form and manner as may be required by the said Board.
