20th March, 1855, on the subject of Waste
Land, I hereby give you notice of my desire to
acquire, for immediate occupation, the lands
described in the schedule hereunto annexed,
on the terms and conditions set forth in the
Resolutions above referred to.

FORM OF OBLIGATION.
The foregoing Application having been
granted, and I, A. B., of .............. , having
made the required deposit, and entered upon
the occupancy of the land, do hereby bind and
obligé myself, my heirs, executors, administra-
trators, and assigns, to implement and fulfil all
and whatsoever Land Regulations or Terms of
Purchase may be hereafter enacted or issued,
and incumbent upon me as occupant and in-
tending purchaser of the said lands, and to
pay the price thereof, and fulfil all the other
obligations incumbent on me within thirty
days after the publication in the Government
Gazette for the Province of Otago of such Land
Regulations or Terms of Purchase; and failing
so to do, I declare that I shall thereby have
forfeited all right to re-payment of the amount
of the deposit made by me, which shall be at
the absolute appropriation and disposal of the
Superintendent and Provincial Council: And
further, failing so to do, I bind and oblige my-
self, my heirs, executors, administrators, and
assigns, forthwith to remove themselves, their
families, servants, and sub-tenants, from the
said land, and to leave the occupancy thereof
void, for the entry thereto of any other person
without any process of law or warning; and
failing so to do, I hereby declare that it shall
be competent to eject me under the provisions
of the Summary Ejectment Ordinance, passed
by the Legislative Council of the Province of
New Munster, on the 16th day of June, 1849,

DUNEDIN PUBLIC LANDS BOARD.
ELECTION OF COMMISSIONERS.
IN pursuance of the Dunedin Public Lands
Ordinance, Session I., No. 5, I, the Super-
intendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby
appoint the Electors of the Province to assem-
ble upon Saturday, the 31st day of March,
1855, at 12 o’clock noon, within the Hall of
the Mechanics’ Institution, Princes Street,
Dunedin, for the purpose of then and there
electing three Commissioners in room of three
who go out of office, and I hereby, in pursu-
ance of the said Ordinance, decide that
Messrs. Robert Chapman
Arthur John Burns, and
Pete~ Proudfoot,
are the three of the first six elected Commis-
sioners who shall go out of office, the said
Commissioners being eligible for re-election:
And further, in pursuance of said Ordinance
I hereby appoint William Hunter Reynolds,
Esq., M.P.C., to preside at said meeting.

TENDERS in duplicate will be received at
this Office, on or before Friday, the 30th
March current, from persons willing to supply
the Provincial Government with articles of
STATIONERY, &c.
In such quantities as may be required during
the half year commencing the 1st day of April
and ending the 30th September, 1855. Also
for supplying
MISCELLANEOUS ARTICLES
For the use of the Provincial Government
during said half year. Likewise for sup-
plying
RATIONS, &c.
For the Gaol in Dunedin, in such quantities as
may be required during said period.
A list of the articles of Stationery, &c., and
Miscellaneous Articles required, will be shewn,
and information respecting the established Ra-
tions, &c., may be obtained on application at
this office.

tion.

"RESOLUTION of the Provincial Council,
18th December, 1854.
"That it is the opinion of this House that
provision should be made from the public
funds of the Province, or by assessment, for
providing a liberal education to the whole
children of the Province, so far as practicable.
"That this House is of opinion that perma-
nent provision for such Education should be
made by special Ordinance or Ordinances of
this House, setting down clearly and distinctly
the character of the Education to be provided,
and the mode in which such provision is to be
made.
"That this House is of opinion that in the
meantime, and as an approximation towards
effecting the object desired, that a proper Gram-
mar School or Academy should be maintained
