Notice of Exemption From Maritime Rules
Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting, on 1 December 2016, of the following exemption:
- From the requirements in Maritime Rule 32.62(2)(c) for skipper restricted limits endorsed to 500GT, and Maritime Rule 32.67(5)(c) for specified activity endorsement, to pass any assessments that the director may require for these endorsements.

Notice of Exemption From Marine Protection Rule 131.62
Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting, on 22 December 2016, of the following exemption:
- From the obligation in Marine Protection Rule 131.62 to have structure, equipment, piping systems, including oil discharge and monitoring and control systems, oily water separating equipment and oil filtering equipment, fittings and arrangements that comply with Part 131, but only in respect to certain specified equipment required under MARPOL Annex I, Chapter II (Machinery Space), namely:
- Tanks for oil residues (sludge) – Regulation 12;
- Oil fuel tank protection – Regulation 12A;
