General Use Claim:

For use in cattle for the anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-pyretic treatment of: acute mastitis, mammary oedema, respiratory conditions, colic, musculoskeletal conditions.

For use in horses for the anti-inflammatory and analgesic treatment of musculoskeletal disorders, symptomatic analgesic treatment of colic, and treatment of fever.

For use in pigs for reduction of pyrexia in cases of respiratory disease and Postpartum Dysgalactia Syndrome (Metritis, Mastitis, Agalactia syndrome) in sows, in combination with antimicrobial therapy, where appropriate.

Any person may make a written submission to the director-general concerning this application.

Under sections 16 and 17 of the Act, a written submission:

a. must state in full the reasons for making the submission; and

b. may state any decision sought on that application; and

c. must be received by the director-general no later than 30 working days after the date of notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

Under section 18 of the Act, a copy of every submission will be forwarded to the applicant for the applicant’s information.

Maree Zinzley, Manager Approvals Operations of the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), acting under delegated authority from the Director-General of MPI, gives notice, under section 14(1) of the Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines Act 1997 (“Act”), that the following application has been made to reassess the following trade name product under section 29 of the Act:

Active Ingredient and Concentration:

Amitraz 33g/kg (500mg per strip)

Formulation Type: Vapour releasing product

General Use Claim:

For the control of mites (varroatosis) on honey bees.

The purpose of the reassessment is to evaluate new information on residues which may impact the current New Zealand Maximum Residue Level for amitraz in honey, and to review the controls and approvals in place for the registered product.
