NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE, No. 118 — 15 DECEMBER 2016

Issue of Codes of Welfare: Dairy Cattle, Sheep and Beef Cattle, Transport Within New Zealand, and Commercial Slaughter Notice No. MPI 697

I hereby give notice that, under section 76 of the Animal Welfare Act 1999, the Code of Welfare: Dairy Cattle, Code of Welfare: Sheep and Beef Cattle, Code of Welfare: Transport within New Zealand and Code of Welfare: Commercial Slaughter are issued on 15 December 2016, being the date they are notified in the New Zealand Gazette, and come into effect on 16 December 2016 being the day after the date they are notified in the New Zealand Gazette.

This notice amends the following codes of welfare:

Code of Welfare: Dairy Cattle, issued 13 June 2014.
Animal Welfare (Sheep and Beef Cattle) Code of Welfare 2010.
Animal Welfare (Transport within New Zealand) Code of Welfare 2011.
Animal Welfare (Commercial Slaughter) Code of Welfare 2010.

The amendments are available for inspection free of charge and for purchase at the following address: Animal Welfare, Regulation and Assurance Branch, Ministry for Primary Industries, Pastoral House, 25 The Terrace (PO Box 2526), Wellington.

Declaration by Minister Terminating State of Local Emergency

Pursuant to section 72 of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, I, The Honourable Gerard Anthony Brownlee, Acting Minister of Civil Defence, terminate the state of local emergency declared at 11.30am on Tuesday 6 December 2016 for the Kaikoura District owing to the Hurunui/Kaikoura earthquake on 14 November 2016.

The termination of the state of local emergency takes effect immediately on the making of this declaration, being 1.00pm on 9 December 2016.

Notice of National Transition Period

Pursuant to section 94A of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, I, The Honourable Gerard Anthony Brownlee, Acting Minister of Civil Defence, give notice of a national transition period over the Kaikoura, Hurunui and Marlborough Districts owing to the Hurunui/Kaikoura earthquake on 14 November 2016.

This national transition period comes into force in the Kaikoura, Hurunui and Marlborough Districts at the time and date this notice is given, being 1.00pm on 9 December 2016.
