  • 1 from Maritime Rule 47.65(5)(b) – Load Lines – Ships of less than 24 metres in length – Conditions of assignment – Minimum freeing port area – Where the length of the well is less than 20 metres, the freeing port area must be determined from Table 6

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 91.5(1) – Navigation Safety Rules – Operating requirements – Minimum age for operating powered vessels – No person under the age of 15 years shall be in charge of, or propel or navigate a power driven vessel unless under direct supervision

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 91.5(2) – Navigation Safety Rules – Operating requirements – Minimum age for operating powered vessels – Owner of power driven vessel must not allow any person under the age of 15 years to be in charge of or propel or navigate the vessel unless under direct supervision

Notice of Exemption From Marine Protection Rule 131.62

Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemption on 23 August 2016:

  • Obligations in Marine Protection Rule 131.62 – Tanks for oil residues (sludge) – Regulation 12; Oil fuel tank protection – Regulation 12A; Standard discharge connection – Regulation 13; Oil filtering equipment – Regulation 14 – Structure, equipment, piping systems, including, oil discharge and monitoring and control systems, oily water separating equipment and oil filtering equipment, fittings and arrangements that comply with Part 131, but only in respect to certain specified equipment required under MARPOL Annex 1, Chapter III (Machinery Space)

Notice of Change to Specified Industries for MITO New Zealand Incorporated

(formerly NZ Motor Industry Training Organisation (Incorporated))

Pursuant to section 5 of the Industry Training and Apprenticeships Act 1992, the notice dated 10 October 2013 and published in the New Zealand Gazette, 24 October 2013, No. 144, page 3951, that specifies the industries for which MITO New Zealand Incorporated is recognised as an industry training organisation is amended by deleting the petrochemical, energy and chemical plant industries.

This notice takes effect from 1 January 2017.
