Maritime and Land Transport Exemptions

notifies the granting of the following exemptions:

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 31.43(1)(a)–(b) – Crewing and Watchkeeping – SOLAS and STCW ships – Unlimited area – Requirements for ships operating in unlimited areas to carry at least navigational and engine room watchkeepers as specified

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 40C.7(1)(a)(i) – Design, Construction and Equipment – Non-passenger ships that are not SOLAS ships – Design and survey construction – Design – Design approval requirements on ships post-27 May 2004 must be approved by a surveyor who holds a current Certificate of Surveyor Recognition that entitles the surveyor to perform that function as fit for its intended use and operating limits, and complying with all applicable maritime and marine protection rules

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 40C.8(1) – Design, Construction and Equipment – Non-passenger ships that are not SOLAS ships – Design and survey construction – Survey – Surveyor must not issue certificate of survey or report a satisfactory survey, unless surveyor is satisfied of relevant matters set out in sub-rule (2)

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 40C.8(2)(a)–(b) – Design, Construction and Equipment – Non-passenger ships that are not SOLAS ships – Design and survey construction – Survey – Approval of ship’s design in accordance with Rules 40C.7 and 40C.35, and compliance with Rules 40C.12 to 40C.60 inclusive, and requirements of Part 50; and provided with equipment required by Parts 22 and 45

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 40C.9(1) – Design, Construction and Equipment – Non-passenger ships that are not SOLAS ships – Design and survey construction – Construction – Construction of a ship must provide strength for safe operation of ship to withstand sea and weather conditions

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 40C.51(1), Appendix 2, 2.1 – Design, Construction and Equipment – Non-passenger ships that are not SOLAS ships – Fire-fighting appliances – Owner and the master of a ship must ensure that fire appliances are provided in accordance with the requirements of Appendix 2 of this Part – Ships of less than 500 gross tonnage that undertake an international voyage

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 40C.52(1), Appendix 3, 3.1 – Design, Construction and Equipment – Non-passenger ships that are not SOLAS ships – Life-saving appliances – Owner and master of ship must ensure that life-saving appliances are provided in accordance with requirements of Appendix 3 of this Part – Ships of less than 500 gross tonnage that undertake an international voyage

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 40C.53(1), Appendix 4, 4.3 – Design, Construction and Equipment – Non-passenger ships that are not SOLAS ships – Radio communications – Radio communication equipment – Owner and master of ship that proceeds beyond enclosed waters must ensure that radiocommunication equipment is provided in accordance with requirements of Appendix 4 of this Part – Ships within a VHF coverage area

  • 1 from Maritime Rule 50.9(1) – Medical Stores – Ship operating in the unlimited area – Medical stores-scale 4 – Rule 50.9 applies to any ship operating in the unlimited area

Land Transport Rule: Traffic Control Devices 2004 – Traffic Signs (December 2015)

Pursuant to subclause 4.4(4) of the Land Transport Rule: Traffic Control Devices 2004 and a delegation from the NZ Transport Agency, I, Glenn Bunting, Network Manager, authorise the installation and maintenance of the signs described in the Schedule to this notice.
