Customs and Excise Regulations 1996

Biosecurity (System Entry Levy) Order 2010

(Notice No. MPI 361)

(1) A levy is imposed on all importations of goods for which an import entry has been made in the Joint Border Management System (unless an exemption from the import entry transaction fee applies under Regulation 24A of the Customs and Excise Regulations 1996), including:

(a) import entries;
(b) simplified import entries;
(c) temporary import entries; and
(d) private import declarations.

(2) A levy is imposed on all importations of goods for which a document is lodged with the New Zealand Customs Service under Regulation 26(2) of the Customs and Excise Regulations 1996 (including electronic cargo information reports).

Under Regulation 11(2) of the Biosecurity (System Entry Levy) Order 2010, the Director-General for Primary Industries hereby notifies the rate of levy for the 2014–2015 levy year.

The biosecurity system entry levy for the levy year commencing 1 July 2014 and ending 30 June 2015 has been set at:

• $12.77 (inclusive of 15% GST) per leviable importation for which an inward cargo transaction fee is payable under Regulation 13A(2)(a) of the Customs and Excise Regulations 1996 in respect of cargo or goods carried on a ship or boat;
