Saunders Channel Seachannel 46°02.00'S Latitude, 171°36.00'E Longitude. A seachannel aligned east-west offshore of Otago Peninsula. Reaches a depth of 1550m rising to 1200m. Depicted on Otago Chart©, Carter, 1986.
Taieri Canyon Canyon 46°15.00'S Latitude, 170°47.00'E Longitude. A canyon trending northwest-southeast on the upper continental slope 40km south of Otago Peninsula, one of the tributaries of Bounty Channel. Extends from a depth of 150m to approximately 1500m. Depicted on Otago Chart©, Brodie, 1969.
Taieri Channel Seachannel 46°24.54'S Latitude, 171°20.00'E Longitude. A seachannel trending northwest-southeast on the lower continental slope southwest of Otago Peninsula. It has a depth of 1300m at the channel floor. Depicted on Otago Chart©, Carter, 1986.
Tuaheni Bank Bank 38°51.00'S Latitude, 178°37.00'E Longitude. A bank on the upper continental slope 45km offshore from Gisborne. Rises from depths of 1500m to the east to a crest at 400m. Depicted on Cook Chart©, Baldwin & Lewis, 1991.
Tuakana Knoll Knoll 37°08.99'S Latitude, 176°50.99'E Longitude. One of a group of knolls in the Bay of Plenty region. Rises to 250m from a depth of 850m and has an area of 10.60km². Depicted on Bay of Plenty Chart©, Pantin et al., 1973; Bay of Plenty Chart©, Wright, 1989.
Waioeka Knoll Knoll 37°01.00'S Latitude, 177°21.00'E Longitude. A north-south aligned knoll on Ngātoro Ridge in the outer Bay of Plenty area. It rises from 1250m to a crest at approximately 950m. Depicted on Bay of Plenty Chart©, Wright, 1989.
Wairaka Ridge Ridge 37°04.00'S Latitude, 177°29.00'E Longitude. A ridge aligned northeast-southwest that lies east of Ngātoro Ridge in the Bay of Plenty region. It crests at 1400m at its southern end. Depicted on Bay of Plenty Chart©, Wright, 1989; Havre Trough Chart©, Wright, 1990.
Waitaki Canyon Canyon 45°12.00'S Latitude, 171°34.50'E Longitude. This canyon, which has narrow, steep sides and depths from 250m to 1150m trends northwest-southeast on the continental shelf and upper continental slope, southwest of Banks Peninsula. Depicted on Oamaru Chart©, Carter & Carter, 1981.
Waitaki Channel Seachannel 45°29.40'S Latitude, 171°55.20'E Longitude. The northern tributary flowing south into North Bounty Channel on the outer continental slope, southwest of Banks Peninsula. It reaches a depth of 1100m. Depicted on Oamaru Chart©, Carter & Carter, 1981.

Notice of a Valid Crown Protected Area Name

Pursuant to section 35(3) of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008 ("the Act"), the New Zealand Geographic Board hereby gives notice of the following name that has been assigned to a Crown Protected Area (as defined in section 4 of the Act) that has been validated in terms of section 35(2) of the Act, but which has not previously been gazetted.

This Crown Protected Area name is deemed an official geographic name and is valid as if it had been assigned in accordance with the Act.
