Term—This exemption expires at the close of 31 December 2014.

Reasons for granting the exemption—The reasons for granting this exemption are:
(a) granting the exemption meets the requirements in section 11(2) of the Act for granting exemptions;
(b) Contact requires additional time to complete the work already initiated to achieve compliance so the exemption is only for a limited time;
(c) without the exemption, a participant could allege a Code breach which would initiate higher compliance costs associated with the Authority’s staff investigating the matter; and
(d) the exemption will have little or no impact on other participants and service providers, and will not affect any other Code provisions.

Land Transport Act 1998
Land Transport Rules
In accordance with section 161(2) of the Land Transport Act 1998, the NZ Transport Agency, on behalf of the Minister of Transport, gives notice of the Minister’s intention to amend eleven Land Transport Rules, and advises that Land Transport Rule: Omnibus Amendment 2014 (“the Rule”) is available for public comment.
The Rule proposes minor, mainly technical or editorial, changes to the following Land Transport Rules:
- Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Rule 1999 (Rule 91001)
- Land Transport Rule: Heavy Vehicles 2004 (Rule 31002)
- Land Transport Rule: Light-vehicle Brakes 2002 (Rule 32014)
