The reasons why the Minister for Canterbury Earthquake Recovery considers it necessary to take the land are as follows:
(a) The Metro Sports Facility is an integral part of the Christchurch Central Recovery Plan;
(b) the land described in the Schedule to this notice has been identified as the most appropriate location for the Metro Sports Facility; and
(c) the Metro Sports Facility cannot be properly constructed and operated without all interests in the land being acquired.
The owner of the land has been served with a notice of intention to take land.

Declaration of Reservation of Land
Pursuant to section 28A of the Crown Minerals Act 1991, the Minister of Energy and Resources declares that permits for metallic minerals will not be granted, or extended, in relation to the land specified in the attached Schedule.
This declaration does not apply to applications made in accordance with the Platinum New Zealand 2013 Minerals Tender public tender process. Permits for metallic minerals may be granted as a result of this public tender process.
This declaration has effect on and from 6 May 2014 to 6 July 2015.
