Approval of Southland Drug and Alcohol Specialist Service and Clinician to Provide Substitution Treatment Under Section 24 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975

Pursuant to section 24(7)(b) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975, I, John Crawshaw, acting under delegated authority from the Minister of Health, specify the Southland Drug and Alcohol Specialist Service (“Southland DASS”) as a service that may provide treatment with controlled drugs for people who are dependent on controlled drugs, at the following places:

Southland Hospital
Kew Road
Invercargill 9812; and

Gore Community Mental Health
6 Irwell Street
Gore 9710; and

Lakes District Hospital
20 Douglas Street
Queenstown 9300.

And, pursuant to section 24(7)(a) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975, acting under delegated authority from the Minister of Health, I specify Dr Gavin Stuart Cape as a medical practitioner, may:

(a) prescribe, administer or supply controlled drugs for the treatment of dependence to controlled drugs as the lead clinician for Southland DASS;

(b) authorise in writing service/clinic medical practitioners as specified under subsection (2)(b) to:

(i) prescribe, administer or supply controlled drugs for the treatment of dependence;

(ii) to authorise in writing general practitioners receiving clients from Southland DASS as specified under subsection (2)(d); and

(c) authorise in writing general practitioners receiving clients from Southland DASS as specified under subsection (2)(d).

Conditions

1. Controlled drugs may only be prescribed, administered or supplied to people who are or have been clients of Southland DASS.

2. This approval expires on 31 December 2017.

to be an Acting District Court Judge, to exercise civil and criminal jurisdiction in New Zealand at such place or places and for such period or periods only as the Chief District Court Judge may fix, pursuant to section 10A of the District Courts Act 1947, for a term commencing on 1 April 2014 and expiring on 31 March 2015.

Pursuant to section 10A of the District Courts Act 1947 and section 7 of the Family Courts Act 1980, His Excellency the Governor-General of New Zealand has been pleased to appoint

John James Dashwood Strettell, retiring District Court Judge

to be an Acting District Court Judge, to exercise civil and criminal jurisdiction in New Zealand at such place or places and for such period or periods only as the Chief District Court Judge may fix, pursuant to section 10A of the District Courts Act 1947, and also to exercise the jurisdiction of the Family Courts pursuant to section 7 of the Family Courts Act 1980, for a term of two years commencing on 6 October 2014*.
