The updated freedom camping notices will come into force on 15 December 2014.

Amendments to the Christchurch City Council Traffic and Parking Bylaw 2008

Pursuant to section 27(1)(e) of the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Act 2011, the Minister for Canterbury Earthquake Recovery gives the following notice.

Notice

The Christchurch City Council Traffic and Parking Bylaw 2008 is amended from 12 December 2014 by:

  • inserting in clause 4 the following definitions in their appropriate alphabetical order:

    CYCLE”: has the meaning given to that term in the Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004

    SHARED ZONE”: has the meaning given to that term in the Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004."

  • Amending clause 12 by adding new clauses 12(5) to 12(8) as follows:

    12(5) Despite clauses 12(1)–(4) inclusive from the dates specified in the First Schedule, the roads or parts of roads in that schedule are one-way streets. Vehicles may only travel on the roads or parts of roads in the First Schedule in the direction stipulated in that Schedule.

    12(6) No person may operate a vehicle on any road or part of a road in the First Schedule in contravention of the stipulated direction of travel in that Schedule.

    12(7) From the dates specified in the Third Schedule, the roads or parts of roads specified in that schedule are no longer one-way streets.

    12(8) Despite clauses 12(5) and 12(7), the Council may, on giving not less than one month’s notice, alter any of the dates on which the stipulated direction of travel in the First Schedule applies, or any of the dates on which the present stipulated direction of travel in the Third Schedule expires, to any other date or dates.”

  • Adding after clause 13 the following clause 13A:

    13A SPECIFIC BUS LANES

    (1) Without limiting clause 13, the roads or parts of roads in the Fourth Schedule are restricted to use by buses only.”

  • Adding a new Part 5A heading and clause immediately after Part 5 as follows:

    AVON RIVER PRECINCT AND FRAMES SHARED ZONE

    23A AVON RIVER PRECINCT AND FRAMES SHARED ZONE

    (1) The roads or parts of roads in the Second Schedule are the Avon River Precinct and Frames Shared Zone.

    (2) No person may operate a vehicle in the Avon River Precinct and Frames Shared Zone in contravention of the restrictions on access or on the days and hours of operation specified in the Second Schedule.

    (3) Despite clause 23A(2) cycles may be operated in any direction in the Avon River Precinct and Frames Shared Zone.
