NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE, No. 140 — 20 NOVEMBER 2014
This exemption applies on and from 13 November 2014 until 5.00pm on 12 December 2014, unless cancelled
earlier under Regulation 21(5) of the Regulations, subject to Wings & Waves Limited (“the operator”) meeting the
condition described below.
The effect of the exemption is that the operator may provide adventure activities to participants without being
registered to provide them under the Regulations.
This exemption is conditional on the Registrar receiving a safety audit certificate from a recognised safety auditor
certifying that the operator meets the requirements of the Safety Audit Standard for Adventure Activities –
Requirements for a safety audit of operators (March 2013) no later than 5.00pm on 1 December 2014.
If this condition is not met, this exemption will cease to have effect and the operator will need to cease providing
adventure activities from that date until the operator is registered.

Notification of Proposed Maritime and Marine Protection Rules
In accordance with section 446(a) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, Maritime New Zealand, on behalf of the
Minister of Transport, gives notice of the Minister’s intention to make the following maritime and marine
protection rules:
Omnibus Maritime and Marine Protection Rules IMO-related Amendments 2015
The amendments propose changes to the following Maritime Rules:
Parts 21, 23, 24B, 24C, 24D, 40B, 40F, 41, 42A, 46, 47, 51 and 53.
The amendments propose changes to the following Marine Protection Rules:
Parts 101A, 101B, 121A, 123A, 141 and 142A.
The purpose of the amendments is to ensure that the Maritime and Marine Protection Rules reflect changes to
conventions to which New Zealand is a party adopted via the tacit acceptance procedure.
The relevant conventions are the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), the International
Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) and the International Convention for Safe
Containers (CSC).
Comments are invited on the above proposed maritime and marine protection rules developed under the Maritime
Transport Act 1994.
