Notice of Approval for Land to be Sold, Otherwise Disposed Of or Modified. Pursuant to Section 5 of the Harbour Boards Dry Land Endowment Revesting Act 1991

Under the Harbour Boards Dry Land Endowment Revesting Act 1991, I, Dr Nick Smith, Minister of Conservation, hereby approve the sale of the following parcel of land currently vested in the Grey District Council, being part of the land described in Part C of the Schedule to the Harbour Boards Dry Land Endowment Revesting Act 1991, under the description “Greymouth Harbour Lands” and being more particularly described in the following Schedule.

Schedule

Residential land proposed for sale by the Grey District Council, pursuant to the Reserves and Other Lands Disposal Act 1982 and the Harbour Boards Dry Land Endowment Revesting Act 1991.

In terms of section 5(2)(c) of the Harbour Boards Dry Land Endowment Revesting Act 1991, the approval shall take effect on the date of this notice.

Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō, Ngāti Kuia, and Rangitāne o Wairau Claims Settlement Act 2014

Notification of Overlay Classification and Protection Principles—Wairau Lagoons and Te Pokohiwi / Boulder Bank Historic Reserve

Pursuant to section 62(1)(a) of the Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō, Ngāti Kuia, and Rangitāne o Wairau Claims Settlement Act 2014 (“the Act”), the Minister of Conservation hereby notifies that the area described in the Schedule hereto has been declared to be subject to an overlay classification known as Wairau Lagoons and Te Pokohiwi / Boulder Bank Historic Reserve by section 54 of the Act.

The provisions of the Act which relate to Wairau Lagoons and Te Pokohiwi / Boulder Bank Historic Reserve are sections 90 and 145.

Pursuant to section 25(1)(b) of the Act, the Minister hereby notifies that the following protection principles are directed at the Minister of Conservation avoiding harm to, or the diminishing of, the Rangitāne values related to Wairau Lagoons and Te Pokohiwi / Boulder Bank Historic Reserve:

(a) Protection of wāhi tapu, indigenous flora and fauna and the wider environment within the Wairau Lagoons and Te Pokohiwi / Boulder Bank Historic Reserve;

(b) recognition of the mana, kaitiakitanga and tikanga of Rangitāne over, and within, the Wairau Lagoons and Te Pokohiwi / Boulder Bank Historic Reserve;

(c) recognition of Rangitāne as kaitiaki over the Wairau Lagoons and Te Pokohiwi / Boulder Bank Historic Reserve mahinga kai and other traditional resources;

(d) acknowledgement of Rangitāne tikanga / kawa over the Wairau Lagoons and Te Pokohiwi / Boulder Bank Historic Reserve;

(e) respect for the association of Rangitāne with the Wairau Lagoons and Te Pokohiwi / Boulder Bank Historic Reserve;

(f) recognition of the historical, cultural and spiritual significance of the Wairau Lagoons and Te Pokohiwi / Boulder Bank Historic Reserve to Rangitāne; and

(g) recognition of the relationship of Rangitāne with their wāhi tapu, wāhi taonga and sites of significance.

Land Acquired for Road—754–758 Manukau Road, Royal Oak, Auckland

Pursuant to section 20 of the Public Works Act 1981, and to a delegation from the Minister for Land Information, Teresa Buckthought, Land Information New Zealand, declares that, an agreement to that effect having been entered into, the land described in the Schedule to this notice is hereby acquired for road and shall vest in the Auckland Council on the date of publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
