Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978

Application to Export Live Marine Mammals

Pursuant to section 5(5) of the Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978, and to a delegation from the Minister of Conservation, the Manager, Aquatic and Reporting, notifies that she has received a permit application from the Napier City Council (trading as Marineland of New Zealand) to export, following zoo closure, live five New Zealand fur seals and one subantarctic fur seal and two Californian sea lions which have been held in captivity for the past five years to their new residence at Sea World in Australia.

A copy of the application can be obtained from the Department of Conservation, Christchurch Shared Services Unit, Private Bag 4715, Christchurch Mail Centre, Christchurch 8140.

Any person wishing to make a submission on this application can do so by writing to the Manager, Aquatic and Reporting, c/o Gemma Sigglekow, Christchurch Shared Services Unit, Private Bag 4715, Christchurch Mail Centre, Christchurch 8140, within 28 days after publication of this notice.

Unless a person making a submission states to the contrary in the submission, that person will be deemed to give his/her consent to the release under the Official Information Act 1982 of all the information in the submission.

Notice of Direction to Appoint a Limited Statutory Manager for the Kea Street Specialist School Board of Trustees (1772)

Under section 78M of the Education Act 1989, with delegated authority from the Minister of Education, I hereby appoint a limited statutory manager for the Kea Street Specialist School Board of Trustees.

The following functions, powers and duties of the board are to be vested in a limited statutory manager:

• All functions, powers and duties of the board as an employer (whether statutory or otherwise); and
• all functions, powers and duties of the board in curriculum management (whether statutory or otherwise).

A limited statutory manager must also advise the board on the following matters:

• Communication matters related to the intervention and the powers vested in the limited statutory manager;
• financial matters related to the intervention and the powers vested in the limited statutory manager; and
• board systems and processes matters related to the intervention and the powers vested in the limited statutory manager.

This notice takes effect on the day of publication.
