The official geographic and CPA name and discontinued CPA names took effect on 11 July 2013, being the date that the Settlement Act 2013 came into effect.

Pursuant to section 80 of the Settlement Act 2013, the Board may in the future agree to alter any official geographic name, as listed in Schedules 1, 2 and 3 below, with the consent of the trustees of the Ngā Maunga Whakahii o Kaipara Development Trust.
