Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996

Notice of Approval of Code of Practice

Pursuant to section 79 of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 (“HSNO Act”), the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) gives notice that it approved on 11 November 2013 the code of practice HSNOCOP 63 Management and Handling of Used Oil.

The purpose of this code of practice provides a means of compliance with the regulatory controls made under the HSNO Act for the management and handling of used oil.

The code provides guidance to used oil generators, collectors, transporters, processors, end users and regulatory authorities.

Pursuant to section 80(1) of the HSNO Act, this code can be inspected at the Wellington office of the EPA, Level 10, ANZ Tower, 215 Lambton Quay, Wellington 6011.

Pursuant to section 80(1)(b) of the HSNO Act, the code is available on the EPA website

Land Transport Act 1998

Notification of Ordinary Rules

Pursuant to section 161(3) of the Land Transport Act 1998, notification is hereby given of the making of nine Rules that amend Land Transport Rules.

The amendment Rules, which were consulted on in Land Transport Rule: Omnibus Amendment 2013, are:

  • Land Transport Rule: Heavy-vehicle Brakes Amendment 2013 (Rule 32015/3)
  • Land Transport Rule: Light-vehicle Brakes Amendment 2013 (Rule 32014/3)
  • Land Transport (Road User) Amendment Rule (No 3) 2013 (Rule 61001/10)
  • Land Transport Rule: Seatbelts and Seatbelt Anchorages Amendment 2013 (Rule 32011/3)
  • Land Transport Rule: Traffic Control Devices Amendment 2013 (Rule 54002/7)
  • Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Dimensions and Mass Amendment (No 2) 2013 (Rule 41001/9)
  • Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Exhaust Emissions Amendment 2013 (Rule 33001/7)
  • Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Lighting Amendment (No 2) 2013 (Rule 32005/8)
  • Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Standards Compliance Amendment (No 3) 2013 (Rule 35001/12)

These amendment Rules, which make minor changes, come into force on 1 January 2014.

They are available for inspection free of charge at the National Office of the NZ Transport Agency, 50 Victoria Street, Wellington, and at the NZ Transport Agency’s regional offices.
