Explanatory Note to the Dental Technicians and Clinical Dental Technicians Disciplinary Levy Notice 2013
A disciplinary levy is being imposed on Dental Technicians and Clinical Dental Technicians holding a current annual practising certificate as at 4 November 2013, for the purpose of funding the costs arising out of the appointment of, and any investigation by, any professional conduct committee and proceedings of the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal.
Dental Technicians and Clinical Dental Technicians Disciplinary Levy Notice 2013
Pursuant to sections 131–133 of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (“Act”), the following notice is given.
Notice

Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Dental Technicians and Clinical Dental Technicians Disciplinary Levy Notice 2013 and shall come into force on 12 December 2013.
(2) This notice has the status of a Regulation for the purposes of the Regulations (Disallowance) Act 1989.
(3) This notice stands alone and the levy is in addition to the fees and levies contained within Oral Health Practitioners (Fees) Notice 2013 (No. 2) notice published in the New Zealand Gazette, 8 August 2013, No. 103, page 2798, which remains in force.

Levy—The Dental Council sets the following levy, payable by Dental Technicians and Clinical Dental Technicians to the Dental Council, as specified in the Schedule below.

Tax—The levy is stated exclusive of goods and services tax (GST). The levy is subject to the addition of 15% GST.

The purpose of the levy is to fund the costs arising out of:
(a) the appointment of, and any investigations by, any professional conduct committee; and
(b) the proceedings of the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal with respect to Dental Technicians and Clinical Dental Technicians.
The levy comes into force on 12 December 2013 and is payable to the Dental Council by 31 March 2014.
