Length of School Zone

The 40km/h advisory school zone should be at least 300m long on the main road outside the school, but should not be longer than 500m.

The length of the school zone on side roads may be shorter than 300m.

Evaluation

An evaluation must be undertaken of road users’ comprehension of the 40km/h advisory school zone signs and of the speed of traffic in the school zone before and after installation of the signs.

An evaluation report including analysis of data must be sent to me by 31 August 2013.

Notice of Extension of Coverage for the New Zealand Industry Training Organisation

Pursuant to section 8 of the Industry Training Act 1992, provisional recognition for the New Zealand Industry Training Organisation as an industry training organisation has been granted for a period effective from the publication date of this notice to 3 November 2012 to set standards at Levels 1 to 8 on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework for the seafood industry.

Notice of Intention to Take Land—for the State Highway 1/14 Intersection Upgrade, Whangarei District

Notice is hereby given that the Minister for Land Information, under the provisions of section 23 of the Public Works Act 1981, proposes to take the land described in the Schedule of this notice (“the land”).

The land is required for construction of the State Highway 1/14 Intersection Upgrade (“the Project”).

More particularly, the land is required for road and State highway.

The Project is required to cater for increasing traffic volumes and to improve the safety and efficiency of State Highway 1, State Highway 14 and the local road network.

The owner of the land and those persons with a registered interest in it have been served with notice of the Crown’s intention to take their land, and advised of their right to object.

Any other person having the right to object may send a written objection to the Registrar, Environment Court, 5th Floor, District Court Building, 49 Ballance Street, Wellington 6011, or by post to DX SX11154, Wellington, within 20 working days after the date of publication of this notice.

If any objection is made in accordance with this notice, a public hearing will be held with the right of the objector to appear and be heard personally unless the objector otherwise requires, and each objector will be informed of the time and place of the hearing.
