Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996

Notice of Approval of Code of Practice

Pursuant to section 79(5) of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 (“HSNO Act”), the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) advises that it approved on 13 June 2012, the code of practice HSNOCOP 56 Design and Construction of Thermoplastic Tanks for Class 6, 8 and 9 Hazardous Liquids.

This code of practice has been developed by Plastics Constructions Limited and provides a means of compliance with clause 8(2)(h) of Schedule 8 to the Hazardous Substances (Dangerous Goods and Scheduled Toxic Substances) Transfer Notice 2004 in respect of the design and construction of stationary tanks made from thermoplastic material.

Pursuant to section 80(1) of the HSNO Act, this code may be inspected on request at the EPA, Level 1, BP House, 20 Customhouse Quay, Wellington, and pursuant to section 80(1)(b) of the HSNO Act, the code is also available from Plastics Constructions Limited, PO Box 95168, Swanson, Auckland.
