Electricity Industry (Exemption No. 151 (Transpower New Zealand Limited)) Exemption Notice 2012

Pursuant to section 11 of the Electricity Industry Act 2010 ("Act"), the Electricity Authority gives the following notice.

Notice

1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice is the Electricity Industry (Exemption No. 151 (Transpower New Zealand Limited)) Exemption Notice 2012.

(2) This notice comes into force on 30 September 2012.

2. Exemption—Transpower New Zealand Limited, in its capacity as the system operator ("system operator"), is exempted from compliance with the requirement in clause 15.15(b) of the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 ("Code") for the system operator to notify the reconciliation manager of the trading periods during which points of connection to the grid were supplied from an alternative point of connection.

3. Term—This exemption expires at the earlier of:

(a) the close of 29 September 2013; and

(b) the date on which the Code is amended to remove this obligation from the system operator.

4. Reasons for granting the exemption—The reasons for granting this exemption are:

(a) Granting the exemption meets the requirements in section 11(2) of the Act for granting exemptions;

(b) the system operator does not have the information that the clause requires for notification;

(c) the clause is inappropriately worded and a Code amendment proposal is in progress, to ensure the correct party will deliver the required information; and

(d) granting this exemption will not affect any other participants or service providers and does not impact on any other clauses.

Electricity Industry (Exemption No. 152 (Norske Skog Tasman Limited)) Exemption Notice 2012

Pursuant to section 11 of the Electricity Industry Act 2010 ("Act"), the Electricity Authority ("Authority") gives the following notice.

Notice

1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice is the Electricity Industry (Exemption No. 152 (Norske Skog Tasman Limited)) Exemption Notice 2012.

(2) This notice comes into force on 1 October 2012.

2. Exemption—(1) Norske Skog Tasman Limited ("Norske Skog") is exempted from compliance with clause 8.19(5) of the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 ("Code") and clauses 7(1), 7(8) and 7(9) of Technical Code B of Schedule 8.3 of the Code.

(2) This exemption applies only to grid exit points KAW0112 and KAW0113.

3. Term—This exemption expires at the earlier of:

(a) the close of 30 September 2015; and

(b) the date notified by the Authority on which a revised automatic under-frequency load shedding ("AUFLS") regime takes effect.

4. Reasons for granting the exemption—The reasons for granting this exemption are:

(a) The current regime for AUFLS provision is under review and may result in a change to the AUFLS requirements. If Norske Skog were required to install additional AUFLS relays at this stage the relays would very likely become redundant within a short period of time;

(b) there would be adverse practical effects if the exemption was not granted and no adverse practical effects if the exemption was granted; and

(c) granting the exemption meets the requirements of section 11(2) of the Act.

Pursuant to section 11 of the Electricity Industry Act 2010 ("Act"), the Electricity Authority ("Authority") gives the following notice.

Notice

1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice is the Electricity Industry (Exemption No. 153 (Northpower Limited)) Exemption Notice 2012.

(2) This notice comes into force on 1 October 2012.

2. Exemption—(1) Northpower Limited ("Northpower") is exempted from compliance with clause 8.19(5) of the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 ("Code") and clauses 7(1), 7(8) and 7(9) of Technical Code B of Schedule 8.3 of the Code.

(2) This exemption applies only to grid exit point BRB0331.

3. Term—This exemption expires at the earlier of:

(a) the close of 30 September 2015; and

(b) the date notified by the Authority on which a revised automatic under-frequency load shedding ("AUFLS") regime takes effect.

4. Reasons for granting the exemption—The reasons for granting this exemption are:
