New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946

Notice of the Final Determination of the Former Minister of Survey and Land Information THE HON DENIS MARSHALL on an Official Geographic Name Made on 15 January 1995

Pursuant to section 12 of the New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946 (now repealed by the New Zealand Geographic Board (Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008, and pursuant to section 17 of the Interpretation Act 1999 the effect of the decision is not affected), notice was given on 5 May 1994 of the intention of the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa to assign a new name, Ripiro Beach.

An objection was received to this proposed name and was dealt with pursuant to section 13 of the New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946.

The decision made on 15 January 1995 by the former Minister of Survey and Land Information THE HON DENIS MARSHALL, that the name of this feature is now an official geographic name and is specified in the first column of the Schedule below (“the Schedule”), is unaffected by the repeal of the Act pursuant to section 17 of the Interpretation Act 1999.

The geographic feature type that the geographic name relates to, is set out in the second column of the Schedule.

The description of the geographic name is set out in the third column of the Schedule.

The final decision on this geographic name will take effect on 9 June 2011.

Notice of Valid Crown Protected Area Names

Pursuant to section 35(3) of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008 (“the Act”), the New Zealand Geographic Board hereby gives notice of the following 215 names that have been assigned to, or altered for, Crown Protected Areas (as that term is defined in section 4 of the Act) that have been validated in terms of section 35(2) of the Act, but which have not previously been gazetted.

These Crown Protected Area names are deemed official geographic names and are valid as if they had been assigned or altered in accordance with the Act.
