Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978

Application to Export and Import Marine Mammals

Pursuant to section 5 of the Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978, the Director-General of Conservation notifies that an application was received from Scott Reeves, Collection Coordinator-Humanities, Otago Museum, on 13 May 2011 to export, on 1 July 2011, 17 pieces of whale bone and five pieces of whale tooth (now forming part of taonga items) from New Zealand to the Shanghai Museum, China, for the purposes of a display of Māori taonga, culture and art.

It is sought to re-import these items to New Zealand for return to the Otago Museum on the conclusion of the exhibition in November 2011.

Any person wishing to make a submission on this application can do so by writing to the Area Manager, Coastal Otago Area Office within 28 days after publication of this notice.

Unless a person making a submission states to the contrary in the submission, that person will be deemed to give his/her consent to the release under the Official Information Act 1982 of all of the information in the submission.

Customs and Excise Act 1996

Excise and Excise-equivalent Duties Table (Alcoholic Beverages Indexation) Amendment Order 2011

Pursuant to section 76 of the Customs and Excise Act 1996, notice is hereby given of the making of Regulations for the purposes of the Regulations (Disallowance) Act 1989.

Notice

  1. Title—This order is the Excise and Excise-equivalent Duties Table (Alcoholic Beverages Indexation) Amendment Order 2011.

  2. Commencement—The Order shall come into force on 1 July 2011.

  3. Effect of Order—This Order, which comes into force on 1 July 2011, adjusts the excise and excise-equivalent duties on alcoholic beverages to reflect the movement in the Consumers Price Index (excluding credit services) over the 12-month period ending on 31 March 2011.

  4. Availability—A copy of this Regulation can be viewed at the New Zealand Customs Service website www.customs.govt.nz or ordered by mail from New Zealand Customs Service, PO Box 2218, Wellington (Attention: Corporate Support). Please quote title when placing an order. Notice of Direction for Appointment of a Limited Statutory Manager for the Board of Trustees of St Andrew’s Middle School (1942)

Pursuant to section 78M of the Education Act 1989, I direct the Secretary for Education to appoint a limited statutory manager for the St Andrew’s Middle School Board of Trustees because of risks to the operation of the school and the welfare of its students.

The following functions, powers and duties of the board are to be vested in a limited statutory manager:
