Application to Film Marine Mammals

Pursuant to section 5(5) of the Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978, the Minister of Conservation notifies that she has received a permit application from

Big Wave Productions Limited and Dr Ingrid Visser

to film whales and dolphins over a nine-day period commencing 23 May 2011 above and under water in Auckland, Northland and Waikato fisheries waters.

A copy of the application can be obtained from the Department of Conservation, Bay of Islands Area Office, PO Box 128, Kerikeri 0230.

Any person wishing to make a submission on this application can do so by writing to the Area Manager, Bay of Islands, Department of Conservation, PO Box 128, Kerikeri 0230, within 28 days after publication of this notice.

Unless a person making a submission states to the contrary in the submission, that person will be deemed to give his/her consent to the release under the Official Information Act 1982 of all the information in the submission.

Notice of Signing of a Prison Management Contract and a Security Contract

On 1 February 2011, Her Majesty The Queen in the Right of New Zealand, acting by and through the Chief Executive of the Department of Corrections and Serco New Zealand Limited, entered into both a prison management contract under section 198(1) of the Corrections Act 2004 and a security contract under section 166(1) of the Act. Serco New Zealand Limited is the contractor and security contractor for the purposes of the Act.

Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988

Anti-dumping Duties: Notice That Anti–dumping Duties on Plasterboard From Thailand May Cease to Apply

Under section 14(9) of the Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988 (“the Act”), anti-dumping duties imposed on plasterboard from Thailand will cease to apply to those goods on 11 September 2011, unless at that date the goods are subject to review under section 14(8) of the Act.

Any interested party that might request that the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Economic Development initiate a review before the cessation date referred to above, should be aware that positive evidence justifying the need for a review must be provided to the chief executive.

If an application is received which provides positive evidence justifying the need for a review, the chief executive must undertake and complete a review investigation within 180 days of initiation on whether the anti-dumping duties should continue to be applied.

Positive evidence justifying the need for a review would need to include reasons for believing that the expiration of anti-dumping duties would see the continuation or recurrence of dumping of plasterboard from Thailand, and for believing that such dumping would be likely to cause the continuation or recurrence of material injury to the New Zealand industry producing plasterboard.

The reasons should be supported by evidence and not be based on mere allegations or assertions.
