Amendments to the New Zealand Rules of Harness Racing

Pursuant to the Racing Act 2003, notice is given of amendments to the following rules of the New Zealand Rules of Harness Racing passed at a meeting of the board of Harness Racing New Zealand Incorporated on 31 January 2011:

Rules 201–228 (inclusive);
Rule 1103(4)(c); and
Rule 1201(2)(e)

The New Zealand Rules of Harness Racing can be viewed on the Harness Racing New Zealand Incorporated website www.hrnz.co.nz or copies can be inspected free of charge or purchased at the offices of Harness Racing New Zealand Incorporated, 135 Lincoln Road, Christchurch.

Biosecurity (American Foulbrood – Apiary and Beekeeper Levy) Order 2003

Notification of Rates of Levy for the 2011–2012 Levy Year

The Management Agency of the American Foulbrood National Pest Management Strategy hereby advises, as prescribed in the Biosecurity (American Foulbrood – Apiary and Beekeeper Levy) Order 2003, that the levy for the 2011–2012 year will be as follows.

The levy rate will be (excluding GST):

(a) Base levy of $20.00; and

(b) apiary levy of $12.00 per apiary.

However, as stated in clause 7(4), if a beekeeper owns fewer than 11 beehives on fewer than four apiaries, the sum of the number of registered apiaries must be treated as one.

Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Notice 2011

Pursuant to section 12 of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (“the Act”), the following notice is given.

Notice

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Notice 2011.

(2) This notice comes into force on 1 April 2011.

  1. Revocation—This notice revokes and replaces the previous qualifications prescribed by the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Board for the Scope of Practice for Optical Dispensing (Dispensing Optician) published in the New Zealand Gazette, 20 March 2008, No. 63, page 1831.

Pursuant to section 12(2) of the Act, the following qualifications are prescribed for the:

Scope of Practice for Optical Dispensing (Dispensing Optician)

Qualifications

The applicant holds the qualification Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing, awarded by the New South Wales Technical and Further Education Commission, or proof of eligibility to graduate from this course, and has submitted a completed and signed record of training book showing evidence of the completion of a minimum of 800 hours of practical experience as specified in the record of training book, within two years of qualification; or

(a) the applicant holds the qualification FBDO (UK); or

(b) the applicant has passed an optical dispensing examination approved by the board.
