Transport and Real Estate Notices

25 NOVEMBER 2010 NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE, No. 156 3905

the draft Land Transport Rule: Omnibus Amendment 2010 (the “amendment Rule”) is available for public comment.
Amendments are proposed to the following Land Transport Rules:

Heavy Vehicles 2004 (Rule 31002)
Operator Licensing 2007 (Rule 81001)
Vehicle Dimensions and Mass 2002 (Rule 41001)
Vehicle Equipment 2004 (Rule 32017)
Vehicle Standards Compliance 2002 (Rule 35001/1)
Work Time and Logbooks 2007 (Rule 62001)

The amendment Rule proposes relatively minor changes to these Rules, including clarifying current requirements to assist understanding and enforcement, introducing flexibility for methods of calculating certain vehicle load dimensions, introducing limited exceptions to restrictions on overdimension vehicles that enable their use when needed in an emergency, amending requirements to accord with current industry needs or practices, removing unnecessary restrictions and requirements (without diminishing safety standards), making consequential changes as a result of changes to Rules and other legislation, and aligning the Rules with recent changes and upgrades to the State Highway network.

A copy of the draft Land Transport Rule: Omnibus Amendment 2010 and information about the amendment proposals can be obtained by calling the NZ Transport Agency Contact Centre on freephone 0800 699 000 or on the website at
