Telecommunications Act 2001

Notification of Release of Draft Determination for the Designated Multinetwork Services of ‘Local Telephone Number Portability’ and ‘Cellular Telephone Number Portability’ Under the Telecommunications Act 2001

Pursuant to section 36 of the Telecommunications Act 2001 (“the Act”), the Commerce Commission (“the Commission”) gives public notice of the release of a draft determination for the designated multinetwork services of “local telephone number portability” and “cellular telephone number portability” (“Number Portability Services”).

The primary purpose of this draft determination is to extend the determination of the Number Portability Services for a further period of six years.

The proposed expiry date of the draft determination is the earlier of 19 December 2016 or the date on which the Number Portability Services cease to be a designated multinetwork service under the Act.

The closing date for submissions on the draft determination is 9 December 2010.
