Pursuant to section 5 of the District Courts Act 1947, and section 5(1) of the Family Courts Act 1980, His Excellency the Governor-General of New Zealand has been pleased to appoint
Max Anthony Courtney, barrister of Napier
to be a District Court Judge, to exercise civil and criminal jurisdiction within New Zealand, and to exercise the jurisdiction of the Family Courts on and from 26 November 2010.

Social Security Act 1964
Extension of Approval for Rural Assistance Under Special Needs Grants Programme
Under clauses 18.2 and 18.6 of the Special Needs Grants Programme (“the programme”), as established and approved on 18 December 1998* under section 124(1)(d) of the Social Security Act 1964, I extend the approvals given on 11 February 2010¹, 7 April 2010², 27 April 2010³, and 3 June 2010⁴, for Part 6 of the programme to apply to specified farmers until the close of 31 December 2010.

Explanatory Note
This note is not part of the instrument but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This instrument extends, until 31 December 2010, the approvals under Part 6 of the Special Needs Grant Programme for rural assistance payments to be made to eligible farmers whose land-based industries are affected by drought in parts of the following local authorities:
- Far North District Council, Whangarei District Council and Kaipara District Council as approved on 11 February 2010;
- Franklin District Council, Hamilton City Council, Hauraki District Council, Matamata-Piako District Council, Manukau City Council, Otorohanga District Council, Papakura District Council, Rodney District Council, South Waikato District Council, Taupo District Council, Thames-Coromandel District Council, Waikato District Council, Waipa District Council, and Waitomo District Council as approved on 7 April 2010;
- Opotiki District Council, Whakatane District Council, Kawerau District Council, Rotorua District Council, Western Bay of Plenty District Council, Tauranga District Council, South Taranaki District Council, and the Great Barrier Island (within the Auckland City Council district) as approved on 27 April 2010; and
- Carterton District Council, Masterton District Council, South Wairarapa District Council, and Tararua District Council as approved on 3 June 2010.
