Schedule 1—Purpose of trial
The purpose of the trial is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of:
(a) alternative parking zone signs that differ from those specified in Schedule 1 of the Rule; and
(b) fewer parking restriction signs than those required by clause 12.5(1) of the Rule.
Schedule 2—Form and layout of signs
Form
The alternative parking zone signs will be of the following descriptions and will be used instead of the R6-56 and R6-57 signs specified in Schedule 1 of the Rule:
Zone parking begins or ends – Alternative
The sign defines the beginning or end of a parking zone and the specified parking restriction covers the zone unless indicated otherwise by signs, markings or a specific ban on parking is described in Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004.
Shape and Size: Rectangle at least 600 x 1000mm

Zone parking continuation – Alternative
The sign defines the continuation of a parking zone and the specified parking restrictions cover the zone unless indicated otherwise by signs and markings or a specific ban on parking is described in Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004.

Note: The dimensions, descriptions and terms used in the description of these signs conform to the opening notes of Schedule 1, Land Transport Rule: Traffic Control Devices 2004.
Layout
(a) The "Eden Park Zone A" or "Eden Park Zone B" shall be specified by means of:
(i) a "Zone parking begins" sign at each entry to the zone;
(ii) a "Zone parking ends" sign at each exit from the zone; and
(iii) within the zone by "Zone parking continuation" signs within the zone:
(A) at intervals sufficient to notify road users but not more than 200m apart unless the zone is interrupted for more than 200m by an area subject to a different restriction; and
(B) after an area where a different restriction applies.
(b) Within the area defined by the "Zone parking begins or ends" or "Zone parking continuation" sign:
(i) any permanent different parking restriction must be specified by means of signs or markings as described in the Land Transport Rule: Traffic Control Devices 2004;
(ii) any other different parking restriction may be specified by means of a sign at each end of the restricted area and, where the restriction exceeds 200m in length, by additional signs at intervals of no more than 200m.
Schedule 3—Location
The location approved for this trial is an area adjacent to Eden Park defined on the plan entitled "Eden Park Parking Zone" dated 25 June 2010, provided by the Auckland City Council and held by the New Zealand Transport Agency at its National Office, Wellington.
Schedule 4—Period of trial
The trial shall start after the publication of this notice and, unless terminated earlier, end by 1 November 2012.
Schedule 5—Conditions
An evaluation will be undertaken consisting of an analysis as outlined in section 7 of the proposal received from the Auckland City Council dated 23 July 2010 with the title "Eden Park Event Parking Zones".
A preliminary evaluation report shall be received by me by 30 April 2011 and a final report before 31 October 2012.
