Land Transport Act 1998

Land Transport Rules

In accordance with section 161(2) of the Land Transport Act 1998, the NZ Transport Agency, on behalf of the Minister of Transport, gives notice of the Minister’s intention to make a Rule that proposes amendments to Land Transport Rule: Work Time and Logbooks 2007 (Rule 62001) (“the Work Time and Logbooks Rule”), and advises that this amendment Rule is now available for public comment.

Draft Land Transport Rule: Work Time and Logbooks Amendment [No 2) 2009] (Rule 62001/2) will amend the Work Time and Logbooks Rule to address issues raised by industry groups, and by the Police, about the way in which variations of work time requirements are dealt with for specified services or in particular situations. It will also clarify some aspects of the Rule.

A copy of the draft amendment Rule may be obtained by calling the NZ Transport Agency Contact Centre on freephone 0800 699 000 or by visiting the website at www.nzta.govt.nz/consultation/work-time-and-logbooks-amendment/

The draft amendment Rule is also available for viewing at the NZ Transport Agency’s regional offices.

Groups and individuals who have registered an interest have been advised of the availability of the draft amendment Rule.

Submissions close on 27 February 2009.

Industry Training Act 1992

Notice of Recognition and Extension of Coverage for the Hospitality Standards Institute Incorporated

Pursuant to section 5 of the Industry Training Act 1992, full recognition for the Hospitality Standards Institute Incorporated has been granted for a period of five years, with effect from 18 December 2008 to 18 December 2013.

Pursuant to section 5 of the Industry Training Act 1992, an extension of coverage has also been approved for the Hospitality Standards Institute Incorporated to include the domain of flight catering, with effect from 18 December 2008.

The Hospitality Standards Institute Incorporated is accordingly recognised as an Industry Training Organisation to set standards at Levels 1 to 8 on the National Qualifications Framework for the hospitality industry in the areas of:

  • cafes, bars, restaurants including licensed or unlicensed cafes, bars, taverns, pubs and restaurants;
  • accommodation including all hotels, motels and other commercial accommodation establishments such as backpackers, hostels, holiday accommodation parks, bed and breakfast, lodges, resorts, halls of residence and apartments;
  • food services including food service premises, on-premises catering and food services carried out in hospitals, residential, prisons, education facilities, offices, airports, factories and other workplaces, stadium and event catering and off-premises catering;
  • quick service restaurants including fast-food national and regional chains, franchises and independent outlets; and
  • clubs including licensed or unlicensed clubs such as sport and recreation clubs, social clubs, working men’s clubs, cosmopolitan clubs, chartered clubs, town and country clubs, community clubs and RSAs.

Notice of Extension of Coverage for the New Zealand Hairdressing Industry Training Organisation Incorporated

Pursuant to section 5 of the Industry Training Act 1992, an extension of coverage has been approved for the New Zealand Hairdressing Industry Training Organisation Incorporated to set standards at Levels 1 to 8 on the National Qualifications Framework for the beauty industry, with effect from 5 December 2008.
