Land Transport Act 1998
Notification of Ordinary Rule
Pursuant to section 161(3) of the Land Transport Act 1998, notification is given of the making of the Land Transport (Road User) Amendment Rule (No. 2) 2009 (Rule 61001/5).
This Rule amends the Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004, which governs the behaviour of all road users, including drivers, riders, passengers, pedestrians and people leading or driving animals.
The purpose of the Rule amendment is to allow a driver to use a mobile phone for any purpose, other than a text message, video message, email, or similar communication, while driving, provided that the phone is secured in a mounting that is fixed to the vehicle, and, if the driver manipulates or looks at the phone, he or she does so infrequently and briefly.
The Land Transport (Road User) Amendment Rule (No. 2) 2009 comes into force on 11 December 2009.
The Rule is available for inspection free of charge at the National Office of the New Zealand Transport Agency, PSIS House, 20 Ballance Street, Wellington.
It can be purchased from selected bookshops that sell legislation or from Legislation Direct, telephone (04) 568 0005.

Pursuant to section 50A of the Conservation Act 1987, the Community Relations Manager for the Canterbury Conservancy of the Department of Conservation hereby amends the notice with the above heading, dated the 20th day of July 2009, and published in the New Zealand Gazette, 23 July 2009, No. 105, page 2425, by deleting in the Description
“and appurtenant hereto is a right of way in gross marked “B”, “C”, “E”, “G”, “H” and “I” on DP 57127 created by transfer A449153.14.”
