Notice of Indemnity Given Under the Public Finance Act 1989
Pursuant to section 65ZD of the Public Finance Act 1989, the Minister of Finance gives the following notice:
“On 26 January 2009, I, The Honourable Simon William English, Minister of Finance, gave an indemnity in favour of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, under an Indemnity Agreement related to an exhibition of artworks entitled Monet and the Impressionists.”

Statement of Guarantees Given Under the Public Finance Act 1989
Pursuant to section 65ZD(3) of the Public Finance Act 1989, The Secretary to the Treasury makes the following statement:
“I, John Henry Whitehead, Secretary to the Treasury, on behalf of the Crown, under delegations from the Minister of Finance under section 28 of the State Sector Act 1988 gave guarantees under the New Zealand Deposit Guarantee Scheme to the following persons on the following dates:
12 January 2009

15 January 2009
Client Reserve Limited
on the terms and conditions set out in the relevant guarantees appearing on the website of The Treasury at www.treasury.govt.nz.”

Officers of the Government of Ross Dependency Appointed

Background:
A. An Order in Council dated 30 July 1923* (“the order”) made under the British Settlements Act 1887 (UK) appoints the Governor-General of New Zealand to be the Governor of the Ross Dependency (“the Governor”) and vests in the Governor certain powers:
B. The order empowers the Governor to make rules and regulations for the peace, order, and good government of the Dependency:
C. Regulations made by the Governor on 14 November 1923† provide that all persons appointed by the Governor may be empowered to do such things as may be necessary or desirable to ensure that the laws in force in the Dependency are duly observed and complied with in every respect, and to do all things necessary or expedient for the peace, order, and good government of the Dependency, and to safeguard and preserve Her Majesty’s rights and sovereignty over and in respect of the Dependency:
D. It is now expedient that Edward Richard Townsend Butler, Neil Stephen Gilbert and Peter Thomas Smith be appointed officers of the Government of the Dependency:
