Port Nicholson Block (Taranaki Whānui ki Te Upoko o Te Ika) Claims Settlement Act 2009

Notice of Treaty of Waitangi Settlement Place Names for Taranaki Whānui ki Te Upoko o Te Ika

Pursuant to section 85 of the Port Nicholson Block (Taranaki Whānui ki Te Upoko o Te Ika) Claims Settlement Act 2009 ("the Settlement Act 2009"), the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa ("the Board") hereby gives notice of altered official geographic place names (and their locations) in accordance with sections 83–87 of the Settlement Act 2009.

The first column of Schedule 1 below specifies the altered place names and relates to their geographic feature types listed in the second column of Schedule 1.

The descriptions of these altered place names are described in the third column of Schedule 1.

The altered place names will replace those former place names noted with either recorded or official status, set out in the fourth column of Schedule 1, and shall take effect on 3 September 2009.

Pursuant to section 86 of the Settlement Act 2009, the Board may, in the future, agree to alter these altered official geographic place names or their locations, with the consent of the trustees of the Port Nicholson Block Settlement Trust.
