Electricity Governance Regulations (Exemption No. 47 (Meridian Energy Limited)) Exemption Amendment Notice 2008

Pursuant to Regulation 196 of the Electricity Governance Regulations 2003, the Electricity Commission gives the following notice.

Notice

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice is the Electricity Governance Regulations (Exemption No. 47 (Meridian Energy Limited)) Exemption Amendment Notice 2008.

    (2) In this notice, the Electricity Governance Regulations (Exemption No. 47 (Meridian Energy Limited)) Exemption Notice 2008* is called the "principal notice".

    (3) This notice comes into force on 1 May 2008.

  2. Amendment to principal notice—(1) The principal notice provides Meridian Energy Limited ("Meridian") an exemption from the requirement to comply with Rule 3.2 of Part D of the Electricity Governance Rules 2003.

    (2) The principal notice is amended by revoking paragraph 3(a) (one of the conditions upon which the exemption was granted) and replacing it with:

"(a) It applies to all Meridian Energy Limited’s unmetered traffic control signals on Orion New Zealand Limited’s network for Christchurch city; and"

  3. Reason for amendment—The reason for this amendment is that, without the exemption, Meridian would need to:

    (a) reapply for a variation to the original exemption for each new GXP added to Orion New Zealand Limited’s ("Orion") network in Christchurch city; or

    (b) fit a metering installation on each traffic light point of connection on Orion’s network in Christchurch city.

Electricity Governance Regulations (Exemption No. 68 (All Participants)) Exemption Notice 2008

Pursuant to Regulation 194(2) of the Electricity Governance Regulations 2003, the Electricity Commission ("Commission") gives the following notice.

Notice

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice is the Electricity Governance Regulations (Exemption No. 68 (All Participants)) Exemption Notice 2008.

    (2) This notice comes into force on 1 May 2008.

  2. Exemption—All participants are exempted from compliance with the requirement to notify the registry of any discrepancies, in Rule 19.2 of Part E of the Electricity Governance Rules 2003.

  3. Term—The exemption will expire on 30 April 2009.

  4. Reasons for granting the exemption—The reasons for granting this exemption are:

    (a) This exemption will correct the inadvertent failure to recommend that the rule be amended, as the Commission has already disclosed in correspondence to participants;

    (b) without an exemption, participants would be unable to comply strictly with this requirement; and

    (c) the granting of this exemption will not affect any other rules.

Dated at Wellington this 29th day of April 2008.

For and on behalf of the Electricity Commission:

DAVID CAYGILL, Chair.
